Full broadcast flake and quartz aggregate systems, and polished concrete that transform garages, warehouses, and commercial floors into surfaces that perform for up to ten years.
“Full broadcast” means the decorative material — whether vinyl color flakes or natural quartz aggregate — is broadcast (scattered) across the entire surface of the wet epoxy base coat until the floor is completely covered. Unlike partial-flake systems where chips are scattered lightly for decoration, a full broadcast system creates a continuous, seamless layer of material that becomes part of the floor’s structure. The result is a surface that’s thicker, more durable, and more visually consistent than any other garage or commercial floor coating.
The system works in layers. First, the concrete is prepared using professional diamond grinders — not the acid etching that hardware-store kits rely on. Diamond grinding creates a specific surface profile (measured by ICRI concrete surface profile standards) that allows the epoxy to bond chemically to the concrete. Without this step, any epoxy system will eventually peel — which is why most DIY installations fail within a year or two.
After grinding, a high-build epoxy base coat is applied. While it’s still wet, the flake or quartz material is broadcast to full rejection — meaning the floor is completely saturated. Once cured, the excess is scraped and a clear polyaspartic or urethane topcoat seals the system. This topcoat provides UV protection, chemical resistance, and the glossy or satin finish you see in the final product.
The entire system — prep, base, broadcast, topcoat — typically takes 2–3 days for a residential garage floor. Commercial installations vary by square footage. Every installation by Oren Painting includes our standard 2-year labor warranty, and we use only commercial-grade materials from trusted manufacturers.
Whether you’re upgrading a residential garage or coating a commercial warehouse, the process is the same — because the standard doesn’t change based on the size of the project.
Vinyl color flakes (also called paint chips or decorative flakes) are small, flat pieces of colored vinyl broadcast into the wet epoxy base coat. The result is a multi-tonal, terrazzo-like finish that’s both decorative and functional — the texture hides imperfections in the concrete and provides mild slip resistance. Flake systems are the most popular choice for residential garages, showrooms, and retail spaces because they offer the widest range of color combinations. Below are 10 of our available flake options — we carry additional combinations and can custom-order to match any aesthetic.
Quartz aggregate systems use natural or colored quartz granules — fine, rounded particles — broadcast into the epoxy base coat. The result is a textured, slip-resistant surface significantly harder and more durable than flake systems. Quartz is the preferred choice for commercial and industrial environments — restaurant kitchens, medical facilities, warehouses, parking structures, and any space where traction and chemical resistance are critical. The Concrete Network identifies quartz aggregate as the highest-performance decorative epoxy system available.
"We just moved into our recently remodeled Lake Oswego home. Our house is beautiful, but the garage needed improvement. Ran and his crew repaired and painted the walls and ceiling — and now we have a gorgeous epoxied floor in our garage."
