Decks, driveways, siding, roofs, and concrete — cleaned safely using the right pressure for every surface. Often the essential first step before any exterior painting project.
In the Pacific Northwest, every exterior surface is in a constant battle with moisture, moss, mildew, and organic growth. Left unchecked, these aren’t just cosmetic problems — they break down paint, rot wood, degrade concrete, and reduce the lifespan of every exterior surface on your property.
Pressure washing is often the essential first step before any exterior painting project. Paint applied over dirty, mossy, or mildewed surfaces will fail prematurely — no matter how good the paint is. That’s why every Oren Painting exterior project begins with thorough surface cleaning. But pressure washing is also a standalone service that dramatically improves the appearance and longevity of your property even without repainting.
We use the same prep-first approach on pressure washing that we bring to every service — the right method, the right pressure, and the right cleaning agents for each specific surface.
Decks and wood surfaces require the most care. High-pressure washing will damage wood fibers, raise the grain, and can force water deep into the material where it accelerates rot. We use a low-pressure soft wash method combined with biodegradable cleaning solutions that kill moss, mildew, and algae at the root without damaging the wood. After cleaning, we can apply protective stains and sealants that extend the life of your deck by years. The EPA recommends biodegradable treatments over harsh chemical alternatives — and that’s exactly what we use.
Driveways and concrete handle higher pressure and benefit from it. Oil stains, tire marks, moss in joints, and years of embedded grime come off with professional-grade equipment that operates at pressures no consumer rental machine can match. We also treat concrete for moss regrowth, which is critical in Portland’s climate where moss returns within months without treatment.
Siding and exterior walls vary widely by material. Vinyl and fiber cement can handle moderate pressure. Wood siding requires soft wash only. Stucco needs careful attention to avoid driving water behind the surface. We assess every wall before starting and adjust our method accordingly — because using the wrong pressure on the wrong surface causes more damage than the dirt ever would.
Roofs are always soft-washed, never pressure-washed. The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) specifically warns against high-pressure washing on asphalt shingles, which strips granules and shortens roof life. Our soft wash method applies a treatment solution that kills moss and algae, then rinses gently. The results are dramatic and the roof stays protected.
For commercial properties and multi-unit complexes, we offer pressure washing as both a standalone maintenance service and as pre-paint preparation.
